Many people in therapy suffer from sleep issues. Whether it is stress, anxiety, depression a reaction to a medication, or insomnia, sleep issues are a common issue for people who are working on their mental health. Insomnia and sleep issues are difficult to deal with and can be symptoms of a deeper underlying issue.
While sleep issues are something to be taken seriously, it is common for them to be due to poor sleep hygiene. Sleep hygiene is important to stay mindful of because our bedtime patterns can affect the quality of sleep. It is not uncommon for people who are suffering from sleep issues to find relief when improving their sleep hygiene. If clients are aware of their habits that are impacting their sleep, they may be able to make modifications to their sleep hygiene to improve the situation.
