Anger Warning Signs Worksheet

It is sometimes difficult to control anger. Whether it is an isolated situation or a long-term problem, managing anger can be a challenge, especially when feeling overwhelmed with emotions or stress. Triggers for anger can potentially cause a person to react in alarming and sometimes dangerous ways.

Those who suffer from anger management issues find it difficult to understand and control their anger. This causes lifestyle struggles, like strained relationships and difficulty coping with stress. Being aware of your warning signs for anger can make reactions more predictable, which can help with managing anger and reactivity.

About This Worksheet

This is an Anger Warning Signs worksheet. This worksheet helps those who suffer from anger management issues become aware of how their anger affects them.

Being aware of warning signs, reaction potential, and coping strategies helps when learning how to control anger. Learning how a client’s body feels in reaction to aggravating situations, their potential to react in negative and destructive ways, and methods to cope with the anger in the moment can help them to understand the potential for their anger to take over. They will also learn how to remain in control and prevent their anger from getting them into trouble.

This worksheet is great for individual and group settings. It can be used with adults who struggle with anger management and impulse control.

Instructions

On this worksheet, the client is asked reflection questions about how they react to anger and how their anger affects their sense of self-control. It helps with teaching a client how deeply their anger and resulting behavior affects their lives and offers a space to brainstorm tools and exercises to use when they feel they may be losing control of their anger.

Review the introduction with the client and offer insight into how anger affects them. Allow the client time to answer the reflection questions. When the client is finished, review their responses with them and apply the findings to the therapeutic process.
