Worksheet updated on November 2nd, 2018
It is important for clients to have an understanding of where logic meets feelings. These are two opposite elements that play a major role in how a client perceives a situation. They are strong forces that facilitate how a client will react to a situation.
In order to ensure behavior is healthy, appropriate, and promotes mental health and wellness, a client must be able to balance both logic and feelings.
About This Worksheet
This is the Balancing Logic And Feelings worksheet. This worksheet uses a Venn diagram to provide a means for a client to reflect on both their emotions and logic.
This worksheet works to help a client who neglects one side and favors the other side of the Venn diagram to understand the importance of considering both sides when developing perceptions about a given situation.
When both logic and feelings are considered, a client is able to understand how to perceive upsetting situations in a healthy way.
Before assigning this worksheet, be sure to review the concept behind the Venn diagram with your client. Reflect on which side the client tends to favor, and how it will help the client maintain a healthy perspective to use each side when developing the perception of and reacting to a situation.
On the left, have the client record the logic behind the situation. On the right, have the client reflect on how the situation makes them feel. In the center, instruct the client to combine both logic and feelings to develop a healthy and realistic perception of the situation in question.
