My Fears Worksheet
Worksheet updated on March 14th, 2025
Children often struggle with expressing their fears, especially when they have suffered trauma or struggle with anxiety. It can be a challenge for children to face their fears, but providing them with a safe space and tools to explore the things that make them feel afraid can facilitate growth and the development of healthy coping skills.
Helping a child confront something that scares them helps them build confidence. Over time, they build resilience and learn how to cope with their fears and anxiety healthily. Facing fears helps build emotional strength, and fosters growth, courage, and awareness of their ability to advocate for themselves.

Instructions
Introduce the worksheet to the child when they struggle with verbalizing their fears or the source of their anxiety or resistance. Guide them through completing the 5 sentences, providing support when needed.
After the child completes the 5 sentences, allow them time to complete the art project. Then, talk with them about what they shared on the worksheet. You may ask them questions, like:
- “What makes it hard to talk about your fears?”
- “When you are afraid, what can your parents and teachers do to help you feel supported?”
You may also ask them about their drawing and explore how they can build courage for when they feel afraid in real-life situations. This worksheet can be a useful tool for children who suffer from anxiety, grief, trauma, abuse, and social or behavioral issues.
