Thoughts And Behaviors: Costs And Benefits Worksheet

People in therapy often face challenges when they are not in touch with how their thoughts affect their behavior. Without understanding the connection between these two things, clients can struggle to understand how to reflect on themselves to become healthier individuals. Both thoughts and behaviors should be challenged when working to build a healthy lifestyle.

It is often overlooked how quickly our thoughts can affect how we behave. If clients can learn how to slow down the reaction time when they are upset about something, they will be able to decide how to behave based on the consequences. Both costs and benefits should be considered when reacting to an upsetting thought.
