Relief Funds....
The American Institute of Philanthropy (AIP) announces its top-rated twenty-three charities currently offering relief services to the victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in the Southeast U.S. Hurricane Katrina devastated major cities along the Gulf coast, including New Orleans, Biloxi and Mobile, with strong winds up to 140 mph in some areas and flooding. Not long afterwards, Hurricane Rita severely damaged small coastal communities including Lake Charles and Holly Beach in Louisiana and Port Arthur and Beaumont in southeast Texas.
The Red Cross continues their heroic efforts to help survivors of major disasters with food, shelter and much needed blood.
The Salvation Army has provided thousands of meals for the rescue workers and victims.
In the wake of Tuesday's tragedy, the IAFF is preparing to send financial assistance to the families of all fallen fire fighters and to coordinate efforts to assist fire and EMS personnel on the scene in New York City.
In response to these attacks, United Way and The New York Community Trust have established The September 11th Fund. Your contribution will be used to help respond to the immediate and longer-term needs of the victims, their families, and communities affected by the events of September 11.
Please note, 100% of your contribution will be used to support these efforts. United Way and The New York Community Trust are underwriting all administrative costs.
